Warburton Visit

July 5
Nate's parents and his sister, Ashley came by to visit for the weekend. Ash wanted to go to as many temples as she could before she left for her mission at the end of the month. We started the night off with an endowment session at the temple.

Nate grilled up some fish that we got from our neighbor, steamed some green beans and made sweet potato fries. It actually tasted pretty good. After dinner, we enjoyed my attempt at a watermelon cake that I got off Pinterest.
Larry wanted to go for a walk with family, so we all walked around the block. It was kind of nice to do so. We played a couple rounds of Spot It and then spent the rest of the night talking. Ash, Barbara and I talked in the living room, while Nate and Larry talked about their usuals--cows, farm stuff, cars, etc. Those two stayed up pretty late talking and it is really rare occurrence--Larry likes to hit the hay early.

Come morning, Nate and Larry went to the D.I. while Barbara taught me how to make freezer jam. We did a batch of strawberry jam and then tried an experiment with strawberries and nectarines.
When they got back, we all went shooting up the canyon.

While up there, we ran into the Dunbars who were also shooting. :)
Larry helped Ashley with the rifle.

Nate family left around 5. Our neighbors were having a BBQ around 6 pm. We decided to go and enjoy our neighbors' company. I made a pasta salad, since I figured there would be an abundance of desserts. Toward the end of the BBQ, Nate got a phone call from Jess. Apparently, Mike and Jess were on their way home from their camping trip with Jess's side in the Uintas and the jeep broke down. They needed us to pick up a part and bring it to them in Roosevelt. We left the BBQ, grabbed the part from O'Reilly's and went to Roosevelt. Cory and Mike were trying to figure out the problem when we showed up. Nate jumped in to help with the jeep. I really didn't know what to do with myself, so I chatted it up with Jess and played with Chloe. Cory and Chris started unpacking the truck, while Nate helped Mike figure out the problem. By the time we finished up and got the jeep working, I had gotten Chloe to sing the 'ring around the rosie' song and it was almost 11. Nate and I offered for Mike and Jess to spend the night at our place since it would be a long drive home. They came back to our apartment, took hot showers, did their laundry and were able to have a nice place to sleep. They stayed with us through the following morning until we had to go to church. It was great to help out family.
