Kentucky to Utah

My aunt and two cousins flew out to Utah from Kentucky to spend the week with my fam in Salt Lake. On that Friday, April 13th, my family drove up to Logan to spend time with Nate and me. It was great to see Karissa and Cienna again. I was so happy that Karissa remembered me! She's is such a cutie.
We went to dinner at Chuck-a-rama and then back to our apartment for games and communication

The picture wouldn't rotate for me...
I played Imaginiff with Cienna, Karissa, and Tracy. It was hysterical! I think they really enjoyed that game. Boomer fell asleep quickly on the couch and the guys talked about dutch ovens and electronics.

It was a fun eventful evening and I'm glad to have shared it with my relatives.

Easter Weekend

Easter was awhile ago, yes, but this is the first time in weeks that I've been able to blog about anything. So.. Here it is. For Easter, Nate and I went up to Bear Lake the Thursday before to spend time with his family. It was grand adventure. There was loads of laughs and entertainment.

There were several different games being played from dominion, to the wii, xbox, qwirkle, and this treasure/tent game that is all about risk.

Jetta and I had fun playing. She is nothing but giggles and kept running to me. Throughout the weekend, I had tickle fights with Scott and Cecily, just being plain silly. Easter came. Do you like his blue bunny ears? Nate was great in giving me a 5lb bag of Mike n Ikes (best candy ever!) And then the Easter festivities began on Saturday. I started dinner with Brit and then it was the family Easter egg hunt. Barbara went outside with the help of Ryan (Smash's friend) to hide all the eggs, including the Golden Egg. Each egg either had candy or money in it.

I found the Golden Egg!
We dyed some eggs. The kids loved it!
We had navajo tacos for dinner and yummy scones for dessert afterward
Later that night, we celebrated Rob's, Scott's and Barbara's birthday with gifts and cake. Later we played more Just Dance 3 and the new superhero game that Em got us. Everyone got a chance to play. It was hilarious to watch! Including when Ryan was up to bat.
The following morning, we got ready for church and went to sacrament in Laketown. We ate lunch, took a nap or two, and then played a round of Bocce ball (we won!) before we had to head back to Logan.

Caci's Shower

Busy week, busy life.
After the funeral on Saturday, Nate and I made our way back to Logan. We were still moving stuff into our humble abode. Around 5ish, I went to my friends apartment for Caci Larsen's bridal shower. The cute girl gets married tomorrow!! So excited for her and Tim! :)

This is what I call edible underwear! :)

 Chocolate fountain was delicious!
Awesome hostess Sandra. She did a great job pulling all of it together for the first little while, we introduced ourselves and socialized. It was fun to listen to how everyone knew Caci. Everyone wrote a best wishes or marriage advice on a piece of scrapbook paper.
It didn't take long for the games to begin! This is the classic example of the bubble gum question game. Bride answers a question and if it's wrong (according to the groom), eat a piece of gum! I love this game, it's fun to see how the bride and groom's answers compare.
The next event involved a rose, "i love.." statements and a glass box. With each pedal, the bride says something about what she loves about the groom. Little does she know, there are far more pedals than you can expect. At the end, you dry them and put it into a glass box so that every time the question: "Why did I marry him?" pops into your head, you have a reminder. It was so cute!

The group, minus a few who had to leave early and our awesome photographer (mel's mom).
Caci's pile of gifts. Somehow, everyone got the memo that she needed a certain...something. So naturally, she got a whole weeks worth!!! It was hilarious! LOL. But I do have to say, I liked the variety of styles and colors. Anyhow, it was a fun event.
Congrats Caci and Tim! Marriage is SOO much fun!

May her happy attitude live on...

This last weekend was crazy busy. General Conference, a plan to move in and a few more knick-knacks to do. Unfortunately, on March 26, 2012, Nate's grandma Ruth Warburton had passed away. Nate and I drove to Tremonton Friday night for the viewing. I had met his grandma a few times when Nate and I were first dating. I remember how sharp and agile she was for someone in their 80's. She was really sweet and every time she was around, I noticed how happy she was. She had that gleam in her eye where you could just tell by looking at her that she was happy. I didn't know her very well, but by the video put together and the comments made, I wish I could have known her better. Nate and I spent the night at his parents house after the viewing, so we could easily get ready to attend the funeral the next day.
My heart went out to the family as I knew it would be rough to lose a parent. During the viewing and the funeral, I had a really hard time containing my emotions. It hit too close to home. For those of you who don't know, my mother has Alzheimer's disease. She is entering stage three out of four. My brother noticed something was off early on while attending his second year of college at Snow while I was in my senior year of high school. That was about 4 or 5 years ago. I know that time is running short and that she will pass on before I want her to. Death is a part of life, but that doesn't make it any easier to lose someone who raised you.
As I previously mentioned, I couldn't control my emotions. Tears streamed down my face as I faced the inevitable that one day death would occur with my mom. I'm grateful that Nate was supportive over the weekend and willing to comfort me as I had to leave the environment at different times.
The service for Ruth was lovely and there were a lot of memories and stories shared about this wonderful woman. According to Nate, she was the youngest daughter of 13 children and one of the last surviving. Garland cemetery was bought and set up because of her influence. The bench that is seen by the tree as you enter the lot is in dedication to one of her brothers during a period of war. He was a P.O.W who was killed by Americans unknowingly, by bombing the ammunition barracks (where the prisoners were kept nearby). She was a teacher out in Lucin, Ut and Garland, Ut. She raised her four children in Grouse Creek (middle of nowhere) and Tremonton.

Anyways, Ruth did a lot in her life and she will be sincerely missed.

Nate was a pallbearer

New Apartment!!!

We had a lot of work to do before we could move in...fixed the ceiling and window in the bathroom, painted the bathroom (still working on the color), kitchen and our bedroom, got a perimeter around the rooms and apartment to ward off the last little bit of annoying flying ants and THEN we officially moved in.
Here's a tour of our apartment BEFORE we put our stuff inside:

Our kitchen

Our bedroom

the pantry

The bathroom
(If you can't tell by the sliver of wall in the corner, that is the red and gray faux paw wall..hideous)

I'll update you later about what our apartment looks like now. It's awesome!!!
