Beach Family Camping Trip

July 8 - July 13
Monday, I was able to finally finish my dad's quilt. Just in time too before my dad showed up with Dani and Boomer. They went up that day. I decided to work on crafts in the mean time.
Tuesday afternoon, Nate and I headed out to Flaming Gorge. It was about a 1/2 hour out from Vernal. We spent most of the time setting up camp and talking with my family. With Nate's class, he wasn't able to spend the night. So I slept by myself on an air mattress that evidently had a hole in it--I was on the ground come morning.
On Wednesday, I spent the day with my family going to the Dinosaur Museum and we went to The Quarry for lunch.

 Wall of fossils!

Nate showed up later that night.
Thursday morning, Mike, Jess and Chloe showed up. Chloe loved reading her book and sitting in her chair.
She quickly became fascinated with Max and had fun getting in his face. LOL I don't know if he was as thrilled as she was.

Mike had fun with the grill and the lighter fluid. We were having shish-kabobs for dinner.
As night fell, it soon became a full on down pour. Nate had to work today and had class afterwards, but was able to come back up after that. I didn't have my jacket, but luckily, my brother was nice enough to lend me his.
I know this shot is blurry, but it is still pretty cool.
In the morning, Nate and I made breakfast. Eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon. Delish!
Mike and Dani played some football one on one. Chloe looks ADORABLE in her rain jacket and sunglasses.
It rained on and off most of the morning and afternoon. We had reservations to go rafting down the green river, but with the rain, we weren't sure we could go. On our way to the dam, it was raining like crazy. Once we got down to the river, it let up pretty well and the sun came out to play.
My life jacket, fit everywhere except for my belly.
Once we got into the raft, this little tyke had a blast sitting up front. She would just kick and giggle; she was ecstatic. It was fun to watch. At one point, we tried to move her and turn her around. She wouldn't have it. Haha. Everyone took turns rafting while Jess and I just sat and talked the whole time.

There were a few rough parts, but otherwise it was generally smooth.

We rafted for about 3 hrs before coming to our stopping point. When we got back to our campsite, Dani started the fire in the pit (she's a pyro) and we made our tinfoil dinners. They were delicious!

My camper-man! Lookin' a little bored as we waited for the tinfoil dinners to cook.
 The sunset was gorgeous!
We brought up IBC cream sodas. Mike's was predominant drunken by Chloe. She wouldn't leave it alone. Hah we start 'em young. ;)
Mike and Jess put Chloe to bed. While we were waiting for them to come back, my dad had an idea to tease Jess with her fear of bears visiting our site. We had Boomer pretend to be a bear and wait outside their tent for her to come out. Nate gave Boomer some ideas of what he could do. Unfortunately, impatience set in and he went for it--the plan failed, but it was a good shot.
It wasn't long before we all went to bed.
The following morning, the sky was partially clear and you could see the sun rise from the mountainous horizon. Nate had to work, so we got up early, packed up our stuff and he headed out. I stayed with my family to help pack things up and spend time with them. The good weather quickly turned terrible with consistent downpour. Dani was a work horse in how she helped clean up the site. It was interesting to watch. I mistakenly put my jacket in our car with Nate and didn't have one. Being pregnant, I didn't want to catch a cold so I didn't stay in the rain for too long. I felt useless and I HATED it. Eventually everything was all packed up and ready to go. We caught a late breakfast/early lunch at the diner nearby before heading back to town. Mike and Jess went to the Dinosaur Museum and the rest of my family stopped by my apartment before heading home to the Salt Lake valley. It was a great camping trip in the Uintas. I'm sure glad we were able to go.
Catch ya later!

Warburton Visit

July 5
Nate's parents and his sister, Ashley came by to visit for the weekend. Ash wanted to go to as many temples as she could before she left for her mission at the end of the month. We started the night off with an endowment session at the temple.

Nate grilled up some fish that we got from our neighbor, steamed some green beans and made sweet potato fries. It actually tasted pretty good. After dinner, we enjoyed my attempt at a watermelon cake that I got off Pinterest.
Larry wanted to go for a walk with family, so we all walked around the block. It was kind of nice to do so. We played a couple rounds of Spot It and then spent the rest of the night talking. Ash, Barbara and I talked in the living room, while Nate and Larry talked about their usuals--cows, farm stuff, cars, etc. Those two stayed up pretty late talking and it is really rare occurrence--Larry likes to hit the hay early.
July 6
Come morning, Nate and Larry went to the D.I. while Barbara taught me how to make freezer jam. We did a batch of strawberry jam and then tried an experiment with strawberries and nectarines.
When they got back, we all went shooting up the canyon.

While up there, we ran into the Dunbars who were also shooting. :)
Larry helped Ashley with the rifle.

 Mallory and Randall

Nate family left around 5. Our neighbors were having a BBQ around 6 pm. We decided to go and enjoy our neighbors' company. I made a pasta salad, since I figured there would be an abundance of desserts. Toward the end of the BBQ, Nate got a phone call from Jess. Apparently, Mike and Jess were on their way home from their camping trip with Jess's side in the Uintas and the jeep broke down. They needed us to pick up a part and bring it to them in Roosevelt. We left the BBQ, grabbed the part from O'Reilly's and went to Roosevelt. Cory and Mike were trying to figure out the problem when we showed up. Nate jumped in to help with the jeep. I really didn't know what to do with myself, so I chatted it up with Jess and played with Chloe. Cory and Chris started unpacking the truck, while Nate helped Mike figure out the problem. By the time we finished up and got the jeep working, I had gotten Chloe to sing the 'ring around the rosie' song and it was almost 11. Nate and I offered for Mike and Jess to spend the night at our place since it would be a long drive home. They came back to our apartment, took hot showers, did their laundry and were able to have a nice place to sleep. They stayed with us through the following morning until we had to go to church. It was great to help out family.

Re-vampage & the 4th of July

I'm 21 weeks along! Halfway there. Can't wait to meet this little girl.
July 3
We started off the morning with an OB appt. Our doctor says that she has a really strong heartbeat.
With the 4th of July soon approaching, I decided to make a craft for the fun holiday. I had Nate cut some 2 by 2 pieces of wood for me, then I painted them, glued on the wicks, bow and star and whallah! Crafy rockets!
Nate and I decided to get a jump start on getting things for the baby. When I start teaching this fall, there isn't going to be much time to get anything or decorate, so why not start now?
We found this dresser at the D.I. It needs some work, but we're hoping to turn it into a fairly nice dresser for the nursery.

Nate working hard on sanding it all down for me to prime and paint it. I love my handy-man!
While he worked on the sanding part, I tended to the garden. I pulled weeds, set up my potted tiers and planted a few new flowers.
My gardens are blooming! Looks pretty fancy-schmancy. I love it.
July 4
We got up and ready to go to the Vernal 4th of July parade. We sat with Mallory and her in-laws. It was cool to see the variety of groups, vehicles and floats---Vernal style. Definitely not Taylorsville Dayzz quality, but that's alright.

This is how much Nate was into the parade....
He was awake long enough to eat his breakfast from Subway and watch a few participants before konking out for the rest of the show.

When it ended, we ran to Lowe's for the knobs on the dresser and then we returned home to put the last finishing touchers on the dresser. Looks 100% moh-bettah!
Later that night, we went to the Dunbars for the firework show. Randall's brother, Jarom, did a great job at selecting them. They were pretty fun to watch!
It wouldn't be the 4th of July without sparklers!
Later on in the evening, we heard the Vernal firework show going on. Mallory, Randall, Nate and myself walked down the street to watch the fireworks that were shooting off from the middle school for awhile. It was nice to not have to go anywhere specific to watch them.
When we got back, Ginny (Randall's mom) and Alena brought out the rootbeer floats for dessert. It was truly a wonderful night. This 4th of July turned out to be a very relaxing day.
