I Have Now Seen Everything!

Sept 25
I can officially say that I have just about seen everything with angry parents. I help 2nd and 3rd grade teams after school by getting students into their cars at the parent-pickup-lane as fast as they can. You would be surprised how many parents get upset about how we do things. We guide parents to the end of the line so the cars behind them can get in. And some get REALLY mad when we don't let them stop wherever they want to to get their kids.
For instance in one such occurrence....
There was a student whose father decided to stop with 3-4 car spaces in front of him. So we told his son to go toward the front by a certain teacher and that his dad will follow. Well... his dad decided that he didn't want to do that. He honked his horn, cussed and shouted. His son knew what was going on, since this is what we do after school EVERY DAY. He even waved his dad over. But his dad wouldn't have it. So he sped up in the car lane, slammed on his brakes right by his son and then peeled out from the lane. He then pulled out of the parking lot and onto the street, leaving his son behind in the dust. Seriously?! We then tried to get ahold of his dad to come back and pick him up. He very definitively said that his son could walk home. They live near the jr. high school and that's at least, if not close to, a 2 mile walk from the school for a 7 yr old boy! What are you nuts?! His mom was able to convince the dad to come back and get him. But still.
Of course to make matters more interesting, the father then lied to son telling him that we were trying to get him into the wrong car (not true). Fun day, right?
I don't usually complain or talk about the parents from school, but this story was quite interesting... I couldn't resist to share. So crazy!
