July 4
Nate had to work the first part of the morning and then I got him for the rest of the day. We hung around the house for awhile, watching Netflix, playing Fable II and sewing for me. We got lunch at Subway and then prepared for dinner and to go fishing later in the evening. We decided to fish around Hyrum dam. We found a trail and headed over several boulders just to get to the shoreline. I just brought the camera, but Nate brought all of his gear, camping chairs, jerky and bottled water. He was ready to go...
He did all the casting. We got a snag of a fish, but it spit the power-bait out.
We kept trying and trying until suddenly, we didn't know where the bubble went and there was a definite tug. Nate handed me the pole and coached me on how to reel it in. In all honesty, it was kinda like playing with a string, a stick and my cat at my parents' house. We caught a rainbow trout about 12-13" long.
Before we left, Nate had me gut the thing, which was gross and cool at the same time. We forgot to bring a cooler to store it, so... we put the fish and some water in an empty jerky bag. On the way home, I held that thing in my lap. It was an interesting experience.
As the sun set, the view became quiet beautiful. Nate caught a fish, but it was only 4 inches long, so he tossed it back. We only caught that one fish, but it was well worth it. Fishing is definitely a sport that takes a lot more patience than I've got, but if you have the right company, it can be an enjoyable experience. On the way home, it got pretty dark and the Hyrum fireworks started. We didn't stay due to the fish, but it was worth it. Nate grilled some corn on the grill and I marinated the fish with some lemon sauce and it was a delicious feast. The fish tasted great and it ended up being a great night!
