On July 30th, I got a call from Uintah School District offering me a position for 1st or 4th grade. Nate and I were discussing it all day. By the end of the night, we still didn't know if I should take it. Our friends, Aaron and Kenz Anderson, came over to play games. We talked it over with them and some of our family members before deciding to take the position. Oddly enough, a year ago, to the day, Nate and I were both on our phones calling people about the big news of our engagement. This year, we were calling about my job position. I decided to teach 1st grade seeing as it fits my personality better.
This summer, I've learned how necessary it is to rely on the Lord with everything you have. It's been the most emotional and hardest summer I've ever experienced. In the beginning, friends I graduated with were getting jobs left and right. I felt like I wasn't good enough to get a position. I was a little jealous. I applied for several positions and interviewed here and there in Cache Valley. I used to think that I needed a job in or near Logan so that Nate could finish his schooling. Then later, I found out that Nate could graduate at a few of the USU distance sites around the state. SCORE! I started applying to districts near those places.
It was extremely hard for me to stay optimistic and confident in who I am after the consistent rejections. A few weeks ago, I decided to throw in the towel and not try as hard. I was willing to resort to substitute teaching. Then I got a call about an interview in Vernal.
And from previous posts, you know the result. But I felt like the interview was a terrible. I didn't know what they were looking for.
When we decided to take the job, we figured that Nate would have to quit his job. He'd be unemployed for awhile, requiring him to rely on me more than he's used to. He talked to his supervisor about our big move. She thought it might be a good idea to be outsourced, but they would need to get it approved (has rarely been approved with the company). Within in 24 hours, we were told that Nate not only will be able to keep his job in Vernal, but they are going to buy him an expensive brand new Dell laptop as well. He gets to keep his job!!!
The only thing left to do is find a place to live in Vernal. We've packed up half of our stuff, thus far. We're heading down tomorrow to visit some apartments and hopefully have a place to live by the end of the day. I can't tell you how excited I am to work in the Vernal community. As soon as I confirmed the job offer, I had my principal, the HR secretary, and a member of my team called or sent an email, offering a hand in helping us find a place to live. It was so cool!
We're truly so blessed!
Yay for jobs :) Best of luck on this new adventure!
